I took apart a small, old, b&w television and converted it into an oscilloscope. I did this by rewiring the horizontal deflection coils on the CRT so that when I plugged it into the stereo, it worked the same as the "scope" visualization on Windows Media Player, except that mine is cooler.
The fuzziness you hear is not from anything I did. The oscilloscope doesn't affect the sound in any way. It just so happens that the radio station I chose operates at 50,000 watts broadcasting power or less (as compared to the usual 100,000 watts of bigger stations), so it's the reception. If I had a bigger antenna, it wouldn't have been as bad. Oh well..
